Scotland
We're getting married! We hope you can join us brave the Scottish winter as we exchange vows and embark on our next chapter together. We created this site to help answer your questions, but please get in touch if we missed any!

Travel
Nestled amongst the wild woodlands of Kincardineshire, southwest of Aberdeen, and just a stones-throw from Stonehaven, is Drumtochty Castle — the destination for our wedding. It's a part of the world Alex has fond memories of visiting throughout his childhood.
We recommend travelling by air to either Aberdeen (the closer option) or Edinburgh (the cheaper option) airport, with journey times to Drumtochty ranging from 40 minutes to 2 hours respectively. We'll be arranging minibuses to make trips to Drumtochty from both airports — please let us know if you'd like to make use of these. Alternatively, for those wishing to make their own way, all major car rental services can be found at either airport.
For anyone looking to travel by road or rail, Drumtochty is accessible from the A90 that runs between Edinburgh and Aberdeen. Select LNER trains run directly from London to Aberdeen, with an optional change in Edinburgh offering a wider selection of trains.

Stay
We're excited to be able to offer all guests the option to stay with us on the castle grounds throughout the weekend; the castle, wings, stables, and lodges are exclusively available for the wedding party.
The accommodation is available for two nights from Friday through Sunday. We'll be covering the cost of the first night for everyone. The cost for the second night will range from £120-£200 depending on the room. We're currently determining how best to divide spaces amongst families and friends — we'll be in touch soon with more information.
Alternatively, there are a handful of nearby hotels and B&Bs for those that would prefer to arrange something themselves. Please let us know if that would be your preference, as it may impact our options in offering rooms to others.

Schedule
We've updated to the schedule to give some more information on what to expect over the weekend. Please reach out if anything is unclear or you'd like more information.
Friday
Pre-Check in
You're welcome to arrive anytime on Friday, however check-in into the accommodation opens at 13:00. There are two reception rooms, a pool room, TV room, kitchen, and dining room to relax in during this time. Tea and coffee is freely available. Think of the castle more of a home than a hotel.
13:00 Check in
Rooms are scheduled to be available from 13:00. Members of staff will guide you to your room, apartment, or lodge. Each apartment and lodge has its own living area and kitchen that'll be pre-stocked with breakfast items — bread, eggs, juices, etc. — but feel free to bring along anything else.
18:00 - 22:00 Casual evening get-together
Join us on Friday evening for a casual get-together throughout the castle reception rooms. A bar with wine, beers, and soft drinks will be provided (but feel free to bring along anything else!). A food truck will also be stationed at the castle entrance providing pizzas.
We want this to be an opportunity to meet each other in a casual and informal setting — please feel free to dress however you wish. Alongside the food truck and bar, there'll be musical instruments, a pool table, and a TV for the kids.
There'll be a photographer present between 19:00 and 20:30.
Saturday
09:00 Breakfast
Family members staying in the castle will be served breakfast at 09:00. For those staying throughout the wings, stables, and lodges — your kitchens will be pre-stocked with breakfast items for you.
12:30 St Palladius transport
St Palladius church is approximately a 10 minute walk or a short 2 minute drive from the castle entrance. The groomsmen will be offering frequent shuttles between the castle and stables to the church, however you're welcome to make your own way if you prefer — there should be ample parking.
13:00 Wedding ceremony
Whilst the ceremony will be held indoors, the church may be cold. So far, the forecast has been different each day we've checked! Bringing along a brolly and something to cover cold shoulders is recommended.
14:00 Drinks and canapés
The wedding reception will be held back at the castle. As before, the groomsmen will be on hand to offer lifts back from the church to those that would like them.
16:15 Wedding breakfast
You can find the menu and review your selection by visiting romyalex.com and entering your key. Let us know if you need reminding of it, or if you'd like to confirm your order with us directly.
19:00 Break
There will be an approximately 30 minute break between dinner and dancing to allow time for tables to be cleared from the ballroom and the band to setup. We'll continue to mingle amongst the reception rooms, catch up on the rugby scores, and take the opportunity to freshen up ahead of the dancing.
20:00 First dance
A full service bar accepting both cash and card will be available throughout the evening.
22:00 Supper
Toasties and cake will be available for anyone looking to soak up the indulgences.
Late
Given its remote location, there's no end time at Drumtochty — celebrate with us late into the night!
Sunday
10:00 Breakfast
Family members staying in the castle will be served breakfast at 10:00. For those staying throughout the wings, stables, and lodges — your kitchens will be pre-stocked with breakfast items for you.
12:00 Checkout
Checkout from the stables and lodges is at 12:00, however castle checkout is at 15:00. Everyone is welcome to make their way to the castle, grab some left over wedding cake, and say our farewells.
15:00 Departure
Final checkout from the castle.

Gifts
Many of you have asked about gifts, and honestly we're just incredibly grateful that you've chosen to make the trip to Scotland for our big day — your presence is all we could ask for! However, should you wish to help us celebrate with a gift, please find our registry information below.

FAQs
Is there a dress code?
The dress code is semi-formal/cockail attire. Alex will be paying homage to the Scottish side of his family by wearing a kilt. Similarly, Romy will be incorporating a traditional Indonesian batik. Everyone is welcome to join in respecting either of these traditions.
Is there parking?
Yes, there is ample parking for everyone throughout the grounds. A member of staff will direct you to the car park closest to your accommodation.
What weather should we expect?
There's no sugar-coating the Scottish winter. The weather will be cold, and probably wet — we recommend packing plenty of warm clothing. You may also want to bring outdoor items if you'd like to take advantage of the wider grounds throughout the weekend. We've chosen to embrace the harsh winters and hope a warm castle fire will create a comforting destination.
Where are the ceremony and reception taking place?
We plan to make use of the small neighbouring church for the ceremony. It's a short 5 minute walk from the castle. The reception will be held in the ballroom of the castle itself.
Will the ceremony and reception be indoors or outdoors?
Both the ceremony and reception will take place indoors. There may be a short 5 minute walk between the two, however the groomsmen will be offering frequent shuttles.
Do I need to arrange any transport between the ceremony and the reception?
No, the ceremony and reception will take place just a short walk between each other. In the event of bad weather — or for those that would like to avoid the walk — the groomsmen will be providing frequent runs between the venues.
Are the ceremony and reception location wheelchair accessible?
Yes, all of the reception rooms, ballroom and toilet facilities have ground-level access. The castle and church entrances are accessible via a supplied ramp. There are also a selection of accessible accommodation options throughout the castle grounds.
Can I book accommodation through Drumtochty directly?
Unfortunately not. Drumtochty requires all guest bookings to be handled via us. They're unable to take bookings or payment for accommodation directly. We'll be in touch with accommodation options asap.
What time is check in and check out?
You can check in anytime after 13:00 on Friday. Check out is at 12:00 on Sunday.
Is breakfast provided?
There is a kitchen area for everyone staying in the wings, stables and lodges. It'll be pre-stocked with items for breakfast, though please let us know if you'd like anything particular arranged.
Is there WiFi?
Yes there is WiFi available throughout the castle, wings, stables and lodges. There is very little mobile network, however.
What amenities are included in the rooms?
Each room is equipped with towels, toiletries, a hair dryer as well as access to iron and ironing board.
Do you have any recommendations for points of interest?
We know many of you will be travelling from the Netherlands — please reach out if you're looking to spend any additional time in Scotland. We'd love to help with recommendations.
